History of the band

Originally started under name Fluxx, Pray for Villains got started in 2006. They quickly became one of the go to openers for any heavy band that came through Sioux Falls. Having shared the stage with Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Hatebreed, Kataklysm, Cold, 3 Inches of Blood, and Hemlock . Just to name a few.

A constant force in the Sioux Falls music scene, they are always finding ways to support all of their peers in the local scene. Frank for instance is basically a guitar mercenary, having lent his skills to several projects and local supergroups including Earthturd Slim, Thunder Rifflin, Wretched Earth, Exhausted, and F is for Frank. He swears the last one isn't named after him but the rest of the band isn’t buying it.  He and LJ were also members of the local super group Bloodgendary, which included members of Fatal Imbalance and Sever the Masses.

They aren't afraid to bridge genre boundaries either, having joined forces with local hip hop legend Night Shield on two separate occasions. In 2012 Jorelle loaned his harsh vocals to the title track The Hangover and in 2018 the whole band jumped on board the heavy hitting track Bang Your Head.

It's not just the music scene that the support either. In 2023 they gifted an indie computer game maker, Sloppy Joe Studios, with the use of their song Ego to use in the game Depths of Insanity, released on Steam in April of the same year.  Sloppy Joe Studios enjoyed the track so much it will be making a second appearance in the follow up release Depths of Insanity 2 (release date tbd).

Their music is a mix of grooves and thrashy riffs. With intricately woven leads and solos. Every song tells a story lyrically through use of harsh and clean vocal styles. Dealing with subject matter of all types from the dark to the uplifting.

They believe that everyone wants to be the hero of their own story, so that means we all have something in common, something that binds us together.

We are all the Villain in someone's story.
